Wounded skeletons can kill you so do not split your target until its dead. One archer is high up, ignore him and focus on one of the other two. They will cast a fire arrow to set the area alight. Three fire skeletons will appear when you step forward into the area again. In the far wall is a portal to a lava cavern, this is your main target. If Lone Wolfing the game just have this character open the other door to the torture area and take one step forward. Get this character to chain the other two. Change to another unchained party member. Open the door and don't go more than one step forward. Jump into the area that is the back entrance to the Librarian's torture area. One is to the left the other to the right. There's two crumbling skulls in an untrapped area in front of the Tower Gargoyle. So visit the Fort Joy Magic Mirror and get some Hydro spell points if you don't have any. The archers in there are resistant to and cast fire. Carry on jumping and skull finding but do not do the save the cursed librarian until last. In a nearby enclosed area is a treasure chest and another crumbling skull plate. Do not trigger the fire idols walk through open door. Avoid traps and move oil barrel onto the square pressure plate. Jump up some stairs and pick up an oil barrel, vases aren't heavy enough. These heads are triggered by oddly shaped traps not the square one. A nearby trap is a pressure plate that releases a door but beyond the door are fire breathing idol heads. Work out how to get there and use hatch it will take you one place further. Look around carefully before moving a nearby enclosed area has a visible hatch below a far wall. Behold ! A crumbling skull has appeared on a nearby altar. Your thief/archer jumper then begins by moving an oil barrel onto the nearby square trap. Once you've past the door check, not with the Braccus Ring you unchain your party. If you want praise and prizes from the waiting tower gargoyle then finding and using the crumbling skulls is the way to go. You can even run out and swap party members and come back for a potential total of 30 legendary rings/belts (35 if you're playing as a custom non-origin character) There's some random loot around in the actual maze, but it's largely skippable, the good stuff is inside the tower.Īlso, speaking of cheese, once inside the tower, you can get multiple rewards from the well if you use the shapeshifter mask, you can give gold to the well 5x per character, and if you can manage to wait until you're level 9, those belts/rings will all be legendary. You can als cheese the fire skeleton/historian part a bit by hanging out just outside the area and kite the skeletons to the doorway to deal with them individually. And speaking of the necromancers, It's not necessary, but if you want to do a bit of gaming your exp gain, don't smash their soul jars right away, engage them in combat first then smash them while in combat to gain a bit of extra exp (you can do the same thing earlier in fort joy with withermoore). And you really should do the trompdoy stuff first, because you'll find the soul jars for those immortal necromancers. You can access the most important parts by teleport/jump skill from the beach just outside the cave where you deal with trompdoy. Honestly can't say I've ever done that maze the 'proper' or intended way with the silly red skulls.
